The DVS is working to create a valuable and unique resource for viola players on this page. In its current form, the focus is uniquely on music for (All-)Viola Ensembles, whereas it is certainly our intention to widen the scope as we go along. The following sub-topics are currently covered:

DVS LICENSED AND COMMISSIONED WORKS
The following works were written by Dutch composers, and specially licensed to, or commissioned by, the DVS for performance at special events, in particular the International Viola Congresses (IVC’s).
Jeppe Moulijn: “SECRET SOCIETY”, for 4 Solo violas and Viola Ensemble:
This piece was commissioned by the Dutch Viola Society, and the first movement was premiered at the International Viola Congress in Porto, November 2014 (the video of the premiere performance can now be seen on our YouTube channel!). The Dutch premiere was at the Amsterdam Viola Festival in February 2015.
Two additional movements are planned for a TBA future date.

Christoph Blum: “FRAYED RIBBON”, for 2, 3 or 4 violas

Leo Samama: “VIOLA POMPOSA”, for viola sextet
Premiered on November 20th 2018 during the opening ceremony of) IVC2018 in Rotterdam, by an ad-hoc ensemble of violists (shown in photo above) from the Dutch Radio Philharmonic and Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestras: Francien Schatborn, Frank Brakkee, Francis Saunders Veronika Lenartova, León van den Berg and Lotte de Vries
The score and parts can be obtained from the (IVC2018 Resident) composer himself.
DVS POPULAR VIOLA ENSEMBLE TRANSCRIPTIONS
The following pieces were transcribed by DVS affiliated volunteers. They are offered as free downloads, “use at own risk” :-).
Schubert: The Bee, op.13 no.9 – or “Fight of the Bumblebees” for 4-part viola swarm,
arr. by Ruben Sanderse for the Battle of the Bees at the 2nd National Viola Congress.
The Score can be found here. The Viola 1 and Viola 2 are for technically advanced players, while the Viola A and Viola B parts are less demanding, suitable for average amateur level.

Dit betreft grotendeels oorspronkelijke composities, maar ook een aantal bewerkingen. Graag ontvangen wij (via e-mail) uw suggesties voor nieuwe toevoegingen – de lijst wordt regelmatig bijgewerkt!
