Masterclass Richard Wolfe 14 January 2017
On Saturday 14th of January 2017, the renowned violist Richard Wolfe will give a masterclass at the conservatory of Utrecht. The Masterclass is intended for viola students enrolled at a Dutch Conservatory (Bachelor or Master level) who intend to join the National Viola Competition in February. There is space for 5 students.
Richard Wolfe was born and raised in New York. He studied violin with Dorothy DeLay and Patinka Kopec, and with Walter Levin (primarius of the La Salle Quartet) at the University of Cincinnati’s College- Conservatory of Music.
In 1982 Richard settled in the Netherlands. He joined the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra in 1982, and became its principal violist in 1986.
Richard is an active chamber music player. He was a member of ‘Music in Context’ in Houston, Texas, and of Ensemble Explorations in Belgium. At present he is a member of the Rietveld Ensemble. RIchard is on the faculty of the conservatoria of Utrecht and of Amsterdam.
