Het 47e International Viola Congress (IVC) vond plaats bij de Schwob School of Music (Columbus State University) in Columbus, Georgia (VS), van 1 t/m 5 juni 2022. Het was de eerste post-Corona IVC na bijna 3 jaar, en voor het eerst sinds 10 jaar dat het congres in de Verenigde Staten plaatsvond, in verband met de (her-)toetreding van de American Viola Society (AVS) bij de International Viola Society (IVS) dit jaar. De aanwezige DVS delegatie heeft de volgende bijdragen geleverd:
- Emlyn Stam (Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten, Tilburg): In Search of a Lost Language: Performing in Early Recorded Style in Viola Repertoires
- Karin Dolman (Codarts Rotterdam): Pierrot, eigen compositie voor solo altviool
- Santiago Velo Quintairos en Fernando Fresno Zarza (Codarts Rotterdam): Traditionele muziek uit Galicië voor twee altviolen
Voor studenten waren er diverse concoursen waaraan men mee kon doen, in de categorieën Orkestpartijen, Altvioolensembles (minimaal 4 leden) en Solo. Er werden ook veel Masterclasses aangeboden.
Vanwege de nog altijd niet te verwaarlozen besmettingsrisico’s en reisbeperkingen die voor vele landen nog golden, was dit 47e IVC voor het eerst ook virtueel (online) te volgen voor altviool-enthousiasten uit heel te wereld.

The 47th International Viola Congress (IVC) took place at the Schwob School of Music (Columbus State University), in Columbus, Georgia (USA), from June 1-5, 2022. It was the first post-Corona IVC since almost 3 years, and it was the first time in 10 years that this congress took place in the US, thanks to the (re-)association of the American Viola Society (AVS) with the International Viola Society (IVS) this year. The DVS delegation brought a number of contributions:

- Santiago Velo Quintairos and Fernando Fresno Zarza (Codarts Rotterdam): Traditional music from Galicia for two violas
Students were invited to join various competitions, in the categories Orchestral excerpts, Viola ensembles (minimum 4 members) and Solo. Several Masterclasses were also offered.
Due to the non-negligible Corona infection risks and travel restrictions still in effect for many countries, this 47th IVC was also (for the first time ever) made available online through a virtual events platform, so that viola enthousiasts all over the world could still attend, and to a certain degree interact with the congress events.
