Workshop “Taking better care of your viola”

In this online workshop, the Amsterdam-based luthier Chaim Achttienribbe shares with us some tips about how to keep your dear viola in top shape! Interviewed by violist Judith Souman and fellow luthier Jan van der Elst, the first part of the workshop takes the form of a prerecorded lecture. After that, Chaim will be present live in the Zoom meeting to answer your questions!

Chaim Achttienribbe graduated from the Newark School of Violin Making near Nottingham in the United Kingdom in 2002. He then started working for Loerakker Vioolbouwers in Haarlem, where he acquired the skill, routine and secret knowledge of violin and bow restoration. Since 2004, he teamed up with Bas Maas to start a thriving new workshop in Amstedam – the Pijp, where Chaim specialized in the restoration and repair of instruments and bows. In 2008 he also worked for the renowned Russian luthier Vladislav Sirin in St. Petersburg.

The workshop is open to all violists, and also other string players will find it very relevant! Sign up below!
