Luca Altdorfer (Studente, Groningen): Lezing “Composed to the Soul: Viola da gamba music of Carl Friedrich Abel on the viola“.

Elisabeth Smalt (Kamermusicus, Amsterdam): Medewerking aan recital met composities van Frank Denyer, Morton Feldman, Yannis Kyriakides, en Kevin Volans

Kristofer G. Skaug (DVS bestuurslid, Delft): Lezing “Viola resources, archives and database worldwide: how to locate and preserve our repertoire“, samen met Myrna Layton (Primrose International Viola Archive) en Daphne Gerling (American Viola Society).

Het verslag van het congres werd meer of min real time geblogd vanuit Wellington, en is hier terug te vinden in de volgende posts: [Dag 1][Dag 2][Dag 3][Dag 4][Dag 5].

The 44th  International Viola Congress (IVC) took place in Wellington, New Zealand, from September 1st – 5th, 2017. Here is the congress website:

The Australian and New Zealand Viola Society (ANZVS), organized this congress with indispensable motors from the New Zealand School of Music in Wellington: Donald Maurice and Gillian Ansell (hosts), and Elyse Dalabakis (congress manager).

The Dutch contribution to this congress was somewhat more modest than in previous years, due to the large travel distance and associated costs:

Luca Altdorfer (Student, Groningen): Lecture “Composed to the Soul: Viola da gamba music of Carl Friedrich Abel on the viola“.

Elisabeth Smalt (Chamber musician, Amsterdam): Contribution to a recital with compositions by Frank Denyer, Morton Feldman, Yannis Kyriakides, and Kevin Volans

Kristofer G. Skaug (DVS board member, Delft): Lecture “Viola resources, archives and database worldwide: how to locate and preserve our repertoire“, together with Myrna Layton (Primrose International Viola Archive) en Daphne Gerling (American Viola Society).

The congress reports were blogged more or less in real time from Wellington, and can be retrieved from the following posts: [Day 1][Day 2][Day 3][Day 4][Day 5].
